Scope

Civil Project Partners has been engaged to support the reconstruction of several major range crossings in North Queensland between Innisfail and Mossman following Tropical Cyclone Jasper’s landfall in December 2023. As the wettest cyclone in Australia’s history, 2,250mm of rain was dumped across the region, which also endured wind gusts of over 250 km/h.

The Palmerston Highway between Innisfail and Millaa Millaa and the Gillies Range Road between Yungaburra and Gordonvale provide vital connections between the Atherton Tablelands and the coastal region were severely damaged during the cyclone, significantly impacting the local economy, especially agriculture and tourism.

Civil Project Partners provided cost estimation and planning support to FSG as they tender for major reconstruction and resilience works, which will provide vital resilience measures to minimise future impacts of major weather events.

Works will include:

  • Drainage works
  • Soil stabilisation works (soil nails, anchors, shotcreting)
  • Protective treatments
  • Retaining walls
  • Rope access works
  • Roadworks
