The Central West Structures Replacement project involves the renewal of critical bridge infrastructure along Queensland Rail’s Central Western Line between Emerald and Longreach. Pre-closure works primarily consist of piling operations, carefully staged to align with Queensland Rail’s operational and safety requirements. Possession works include structural interventions such as temporary propping of existing bridges, headstock removal and replacement, installation of new bridge beams, and reinstatement of track infrastructure.

The geographically dispersed nature of the sites introduces logistical and coordination challenges, requiring detailed planning of resources, plant, and sequencing. Works must be executed within constrained rail shutdown windows, necessitating highly efficient construction methodologies and precise scheduling.

The team also undertook optioneering of steel and concrete beam solutions to support efficient and constructible designs.
