Kicking off 2025 with Major Infrastructure Projects!

The start of the year at Civil Project Partners has been full steam ahead, with a strong pipeline of tendering and cost estimation work across key infrastructure projects. We caught up with Justin Stratford to see what he has been working on.

“Tendering has been busy at the start of 2025, carrying over momentum from last year with new TMR tenders keeping us on our toes, which is great as we love transport and active transport projects. On the planning side, things have been a little quieter; we have had a strong focus on supporting North Queensland projects—most of which aren’t flood-related; however, we expect additional projects to develop as the North recovers from the latest damaging weather events. We’re also seeing a push on DRFA design works, likely as agencies look to assess damage early, knowing they’ll be in for a busy period later in the year,” said Justin.

Justin’s key milestones this quarter include:

✅ William Hovell Drive Duplication (ACT) – Successfully submitted cost estimates for a 5km road duplication tender on behalf of a leading contractor, supporting a major upgrade for the region. The William Hovell Drive Duplication project aims to enhance a 4.5-kilometre stretch between the Glenloch Interchange and Drake-Brockman Drive, completing its duplication. Key features include a new 3-metre-wide off-road asphalt path along William Hovell Drive between Drake-Brockman Drive and John Gorton Drive, 2-metre-wide shoulders for on-road cyclists, and a new signalised intersection at Drake-Brockman Drive/Kingsford Smith Drive and William Hovell Drive (pending approvals). Additionally, the project plans to formalise access to the Old Weetangera Cemetery and improve the Bicentennial National Trail underpass to minimise user conflicts.

✅ Beams Road Upgrade (Brisbane) – Deep in the tendering process for future stages, working closely with a major contractor to identify cost efficiencies. With BCC’s EOI process complete, the shortlisted contractors are now tendering for the works. The Beams Road Upgrade between Lacey Road and Handford Road is a significant infrastructure project aimed at improving safety, reducing congestion, and enhancing travel reliability in Brisbane’s northern suburbs. This corridor, serving communities in Carseldine, Fitzgibbon, Taigum, and Zillmere, currently accommodates over 19,000 vehicles daily, with traffic volumes expected to rise due to anticipated growth in these areas.

Key components of the project include widening sections of Beams Road from two to four lanes to establish a consistent four-lane corridor, installing new traffic signals at the Dorville Road intersection to replace the existing roundabout, and constructing a new shared path underpass at Cabbage Tree Creek to enhance safety and connectivity for pedestrians and cyclists. Additionally, the upgrade encompasses the installation of raised centre medians to separate opposing traffic lanes, upgrading public utilities, and providing shared pathways throughout the corridor to improve active transport options.

As the year progresses and Justin continues to support major projects, we will update you on his ongoing achievements and successes. Great start to the year Justin!
